Free TI-84 Calculator Online
A free TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator that runs right in your browser. Same keys, same menus and the same color screen you’ll use in class. Nothing to download and no account to make.
What Is the TI-84 Calculator Online?
This page runs a TI-84 Plus CE emulator. Put simply, it’s a copy of the real calculator that works inside your web browser. The keypad, the menus and the color screen act the way they do on the handheld TI-84 Plus CE that most U.S. high schools hand out. If you’ve used a TI-84 in class, you already know how to use this one. People look for it under a lot of names: TI-84 online, TI84 online, online TI-84 calculator, and even “T1-84,” since the capital “I” on the case looks like a “1.” Every one of them points to the same calculator, and it’s the one on this page.
Graphing and Equations
01
Type an equation into Y=, press GRAPH and the curve shows up in color. You can graph up to ten functions at once, zoom in on the part you care about and find zeros, intersections, and max or min points from the CALC menu. It’s the same graphing you’ll do in Algebra 2, Precalculus and AP Calculus.
Statistics and Regression
02
Enter your data in a list and get the mean, median, standard deviation and quartiles in one screen with 1-Var Stats. Two lists of data? Run a linear, quadratic or exponential regression and get the equation of the line of best fit. This is the part AP Statistics students lean on the most.
Fractions, Roots and Exact Answers
03
The TI-84 Plus CE shows fractions, square roots and exponents the way your textbook prints them, not as one long line of text. You can type a fraction with the n/d template, turn a decimal back into a fraction with ►Frac, and use trig, logs and scientific notation for science classes.
Probability and Distributions
04
The DISTR menu covers normal, binomial, t and chi-square distributions. Find the probability between two values with normalcdf, work backward to a cutoff with invNorm, or get a critical value for a confidence interval without opening a z-table.
Works on Any Device
05
Use it on a laptop, a school Chromebook, an iPad or your phone. It runs in Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox, and you just click or tap the keys. On a small screen, the “Open in a separate window” link under the calculator gives it more room.
Why Use a TI-84 Online Instead of a Real One?
A new TI-84 Plus CE usually costs more than $100. Lots of students don’t own one, and the ones who do tend to leave it in a locker the night before a test. Here’s when the online version earns its keep. Need a simpler scientific calculator instead? Try our free TI-30XS calculator online.
You left it at school → Homework doesn’t have to wait until tomorrow. Open this page and finish tonight.
You’re prepping for a test → Practice the same keystrokes you’ll use on the SAT, ACT or an AP exam, so nothing feels new on test day.
You’re on a Chromebook or phone → It works in Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox. There’s nothing to install.
You teach math → Put it on the projector and show the class every key press, one step at a time.
You want to try before you buy → Get a feel for the TI-84 before you spend money on one.
You need a backup → Batteries die. Keep this page bookmarked for those moments.
How to Use the TI-84 Calculator Online: Step-by-Step Guide
Click or tap the keys on the calculator above. New to the TI-84? Start with Step 1. Each step matches what you’ll see on the screen, so you can follow along as you read.
STEP 1
Learn What the Key Colors Mean
Most keys do two or three jobs. The main label works when you press the key alone. Blue labels above the keys need 2nd first, and green letters need ALPHA first. CLEAR wipes the line, and 2nd + MODE (QUIT) takes you back to the home screen from any menu.
STEP 2
Do a Basic Calculation
Type 12 × 4 − 5 ÷ 2 and press ENTER. You’ll get 45.5. For a negative number, use the (−) key at the bottom of the keypad, not the minus key. Mixing those two up is the number one reason beginners see ERR: SYNTAX.
STEP 3
Graph a Function
Press Y= and type your equation next to Y1, using the X,T,θ,n key for x. Try x² − 4, then press GRAPH. Can’t see the curve? Press ZOOM and pick 6: ZStandard. TRACE lets you walk along the curve and read each point. Want a simpler plotter? Use our free graphing calculator.
STEP 4
Find Zeros, Intersections, Max and Min
Press 2nd + TRACE to open CALC. Pick 2: zero, then press ENTER for a left bound, a right bound and a guess. For y = x² − 4 you’ll get x = 2 or x = −2. With two equations graphed, 5: intersect and ENTER three times shows where they cross. 3: minimum and 4: maximum work the same way.
STEP 5
Look at a Table of Values
After you enter an equation in Y=, press 2nd + GRAPH (TABLE) and scroll with the arrow keys. To change the starting x value or the step size, press 2nd + WINDOW (TBLSET). Tables are a quick way to check your work by hand.
STEP 6
Find Mean, Standard Deviation and Regression
Press STAT, choose 1: Edit and type your data into L1. Then press STAT, move to CALC, pick 1: 1-Var Stats and choose Calculate. x̄ is the mean, Sx is the sample standard deviation and σx is the population one. For a line of best fit, put x in L1, y in L2 and use 4: LinReg(ax+b).
STEP 7
Work With Fractions
Press ALPHA + Y= to open the FRAC menu and pick 1: n/d. Type the top number, press the down arrow, type the bottom number, then press the right arrow to keep going. Got a decimal and want a fraction? Press MATH, pick 1: ►Frac and press ENTER.
STEP 8
Use the Normal Distribution
Press 2nd + VARS to open DISTR. normalcdf(−1, 1, 0, 1) gives the probability between two values, about 0.6827. invNorm(0.975, 0, 1) works backward from an area and returns about 1.96, the z critical value for a 95% confidence interval.
STEP 9
Clear the Screen or Reset the Calculator
CLEAR empties the screen. For a full reset, press 2nd + + (MEM), then pick 7: Reset, 1: All RAM and 2: Reset. Reloading this page also starts the calculator fresh, which means lists and programs aren’t saved. Write down anything you’ll need later.
Popular Calculations You Can Do on the TI-84 Online
The TI-84 does a lot more than add and subtract. These are the jobs students and teachers use it for most.
Who Uses the TI-84 Calculator Online?
Anyone who works with numbers can get something out of it, but three groups use it the most.
Students: Middle school through college. It covers homework and test prep in Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus and Statistics, using the same keys your teacher shows in class.
Teachers and tutors: Put the calculator on a projector or share your screen in an online lesson, so every student sees exactly which key you press and what the screen shows next.
Parents and adult learners: Helping with homework or heading back to school for a college math class? Open the page and work through the problem right next to your student.
