TI-83 Calculator Online
A free TI-83 style graphing calculator that runs in your browser. Do quick math, graph up to four functions, trace them, build a table and run statistics with keys laid out like the classic TI-83.
What Is the TI-83 Calculator Online?
The TI-83 and TI-83 Plus are the graphing calculators that came before the TI-84. Many schools still hand them out, and plenty of older textbooks and worksheets are written for them. The calculator on this page is our own TI-83 style simulator. It isn’t Texas Instruments software, but it follows the same key layout and the same way of working: type on the home screen, enter equations in Y=, then press GRAPH, TRACE or TABLE.
Need the newer model? The TI-84 works almost the same way. Try our TI-84 calculator online or the color TI-84 Plus CE calculator online.
Everyday math → Arithmetic, powers, roots, trig, logs, factorials and fractions with ►Frac.
Graph up to four functions → Enter Y1 to Y4, press GRAPH and see them together.
Trace, zoom and tables → Walk along a curve, zoom in or out, and see a table of x and y values.
Statistics → Enter data in L1 and L2, then get the mean, standard deviation, quartiles and a line of best fit.
How to Use the TI-83 Calculator Online
Click or tap the keys above. On a laptop you can also type numbers and operators with your keyboard. These six steps cover the main jobs.
STEP 1
Do Math on the Home Screen
Type 2 ( 3 + 4 ) and press ENTER to get 14. Blue labels need 2nd first: 2nd + x² is a square root and 2nd + ^ is π. Use (−) for negative numbers and ANS to reuse your last answer. CLEAR wipes the line.
STEP 2
Graph a Function
Press Y=. Next to Y1, press X,T,θ,n, then x², − and 4 to enter X² − 4. Press ▼ to move to Y2 if you want a second graph. Then press GRAPH. The standard window runs from −10 to 10 on both axes.
STEP 3
Change the Window or Zoom
Press WINDOW and type new values for Xmin, Xmax, Ymin and Ymax, pressing ENTER after each. Or press ZOOM and pick a number: 2 zooms in, 3 zooms out, 6 is ZStandard, 7 is ZTrig and 0 is ZoomFit.
STEP 4
Trace Along the Graph
Press TRACE. A small box appears on the curve and the bottom of the screen shows its X and Y values. Press ◄ or ► to move along it, and ▲ or ▼ to jump to another function.
STEP 5
See a Table of Values
Press 2nd + GRAPH (TABLE). You’ll see X with the matching Y1 and Y2 values, starting at X = 0. Press ▼ or ▲ to scroll. Tables are a quick way to check answers you worked out by hand.
STEP 6
Run Statistics
Press STAT and choose 1 (Edit). Type each number and press ENTER. Use ► to switch to L2. Press CLEAR when you’re done, then STAT and 2 for 1-Var Stats: x̄ is the mean, Sx the sample standard deviation and σx the population one. Choose 4 for LinReg(ax+b).
TI-83 vs TI-84: Is There a Real Difference?
For class work, not much. The TI-84 is the newer model with more speed and memory, but the keys and menus are nearly identical, so what you learn on one carries over to the other.
| Feature | TI-83 / TI-83 Plus | TI-84 Plus |
|---|---|---|
| Key layout and menus | Classic layout | Almost the same |
| Speed and memory | Slower, less memory | Faster, more memory |
| Computer connection | Link cable | USB port |
| Screen | Black and white | Black and white (color on the Plus CE) |
| Allowed on SAT, ACT and AP | Yes | Yes |
Conclusion: Practice TI-83 Skills Anywhere
If your school still uses the TI-83, this free online version lets you practice graphing, tracing, tables and statistics at home with the same key layout. It’s also a good stepping stone to the TI-84, since almost everything works the same way.
